I suppose it’s a good idea ~
or just another day at the office ?
anyways here’s a fresh batch of hatchlings looking for feathers
ya gotta expect a few broken yokes ~ especially these daze.
the mixed metaphors continue to marinate ~ just in time for S P R I N G
gotter up ona corner ~ and THE corner here
in the The Victory Center @ 2 Kensington Road
I am so proud of the work being done here it would take a post every day just to keep up ~ even the scraps on the table look pretty cool ~
So here is a sample from the last 6 weeks or so
mostly aquatic animals for now
with a few curve balls thrown in just to keep things spicy
and a little something more to grow on
the evolution on this one was outstanding ~
this was around the mid-point = in the horizontal orientation
so much stuff ! it’s spillin’ out in the hallway ! ! ~ can’t wait to see what happens next ! ! !
here’s lookin’ at you kid
at the Victory Center
I didn’t mean that to sound as provocative as it does. But what the hell it kinda says what it means ~ working the high wire without a net – tight margins – no wiggle room . . . you get the idea.
The ‘real’ chickens are now tucked in my cousins freezer in Idaho while I made my fourth trip across the Great Basin in three months. All that open space time does something to your brain ~ or at least it did sum thin to mine.
As part of an expansive experience it plays in my imagination as an equal to my time at Art Camp
These experiences stand in sharp contrast to the heart wrenching time back east with the family. Perhaps itz a hangover from all the buddha stuff but I find it more painful now to watch loved ones suffer than to bear my own.
So now back in CA I find myself attempting to makes cents out of it all since I am kindov addicted to that sort of thing. Seems like there should be sum profit from all that pain. Maybe ? Time space will tell . . .
For now I’ve adopted the chorus from Leonard Cohen’s Anthem as my mantra:
Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack in everything
That’s how the light gets in
We painted the chicken coup camo ~ to match the sky
There’s about 25 in all around the yard.
Most of them’s red ones like this couple ~
Except for the Colonel ~ he’s the purty one . . .
. . . . they have until the 14th ~ after that they’s lunch !
It’s a curious thing to care for and raise an animal that you will eventually slaughter and eat.
The lives of these guys and gals, anyways, is about as good as it gets
for being a chicken.
I think in some ways all we are searching for is some wide open spaces ~ either in the country side or in nature but mainly what we are trying for is just some more space in our own minds.
It doesn’t seem like too much to ask for and yet it doesn’t come naturally either. Trying too hard defeats the purpose and not trying enough produces nothing.
Somebody on wonna them shows ~ you know the ones ~ said that if everyone in the world were living by our standards ~ US that is ~ the earth could support up to 1.5 billion people at that level.
So at 7 billion plus that obviously aint gonna happen.
I don’t know how ya figger stuff like that out but I gotta say even if you kin quibble with the numbers it don’t take much to see that we got it way better than most ~ and if most started doing it like we do – they’d be one hellova traffic jam on Monday.
turns out the Mayans didn’t swallow us ~ but this might = takes about an hourNahalf (I reck o mend you go with bite size peaces) weed out the wankers, fire up the BIG screen & sir round sound ~ then strap your self in – Ridem Cowboys (n CowGals)
